Redefining paper for a better future

PM1 is the packaging grade paper machine which produces Corrugated Medium and Testliner, both of which are made of 100% recycled wastepaper. PM1 also produces Kraft Top Liner which is made of the mixture of pulp and recycled wastepaper. It produces up to 240,000 tons of paper per annum.

Apart from producing White Top Liner, PM2 serves to compliment PM1 with an annual output of up to 55,000 tons of paper.

PM3, the newly launched paper machine is the latest addition to the Paper Division with a total investment of RM1.2 billion. It produces up to 450,000 tons of paper per annum. It is capable of producing Light Weight 100% Recycled Wastepaper-based paper.

Pulper Power

Wastepaper is fed into the Pulper and broken down into a slurry. Contaminants will be rejected from the pulper to the Reject Handling System

Cleaning Up

The Fiber Slurry will be cleaned and screened to remove smaller contaminants like paper clips, sand, and plastic from the fiber.

Thick and Thin

A thickening process happens here where the water and fiber are separated to increase the fiber consistency.

Breaking Barriers

A dispersing process breaks down dirt into smaller size and sticky materials.

Surface Upgrade

It then goes through a refining process to condition the fiber surface to improve paper quality.

Wet Web Works

Fiber is then fed to the forming section through a headbox. This is where the vacuum system will remove water and form the wet web. Here, the fiber is only 20% dry.

Press to Impress

The fiber will then pass through the press section to further remove water from the web through a series of increased hydraulic forces. This increases the dryness to 50%.

Steamy Finale

Moisture removal is achieved through evaporation using a steam and condensation system. Our COGEN plant supplies steam for heating the paper and the air handling process.

Rolling Big

After the production process, the paper is carefully wound onto large jumbo rolls at the reel section, ready for further processing or distribution

Size Matters

Once cut into various sizes, the paper undergoes further processing as it moves towards the packaging plants for final packaging and distribution.

How Paper is Made in GSPB?

At GSPB, we have 2 Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) warehouses with a combined storage capacity of 40,000 tons. Once the papers are stored into the warehouses, the ASRS system will manage the logistics of the paper rolls and deliver them to the customers.

Our state-of-the-art machinery is controlled by the Distributed Control System (DCS), Web Break Monitoring System, CCTV, and Web Inspection System to ensure we produce high quality papers.
